THE POWER OF GOAL SETTING
Our brain is a goal-setting mechanism.
In other words, we need exciting reasons to work hard, stay focused, and get out of bed every morning. When a goal is set, you set your mind in motion to work day and night to come up with ways to make it happen.
To make sure that your goals unleash all of your potential, they must be:
Measurable (pages read, pounds lost, grades raised)
Deadlined (a completion date) This is for accountability...when is the assignment due?
The goal must be specific. When setting goals always ask yourself these two questions:
What exactly needs to happen?
By when does it need to happen?
The more clearly we see things the way that we want them, the more likely we will be to take action and make them a reality.
Pro Tips for Goal Setting
Stretch Yourself and Step Out of Your Comfort Zone. If you never attempt anything more than what you can already do, how will you ever know what you are truly capable of?
Write Your Goals Down
Post Your Goals Where You Can See Them
Revisit Your Goals...check your progress. You may need to revise or update your goals at this time.
You want to set a goal that is big enough/challenging enough so that in the process of achieving it, you become someone worth becoming. Make a commitment to yourself to do something each day that will move you closer to where you want to be. All of the little steps add up. Eventually, you will get there. The trick is to GET SARTED. Don’t delay; make it happen! And, start Now!
